Mom2Boys's blog
Well, today is Valentine's Day. I really enjoyed Valentine's Day this year. I can barely pick a favorite. Was it dinner with my husband? Was it candy from loved ones? Or maybe it was just that it was warm enough outside to send those children outside ! Yep, I think it was the latter-LOL
My favorite Valentine craft this year introduced me a new phenomenon: cornstarch glue !! Here is a craft that you can adapt at anytime just by changing the cookie cutter shape and the color of the yarn:
HEART ORNAMENTS
6-8 Pieces of Yarn cut about 6 inches long (any combination of red, white, and pink)
1/4 cup corn starch
1/2 cup water
Heart Shaped Cookie Cutter
Piece of Parchmnent Paper
Directions: In a saucepan on the stovestop, combine corn starch and water and mix over heat until the mixture thickens and becomes translucent. Allow to cool. Place cookie cutter on top of parchment paper. One at a time, place a piece of string into the cornstarch glue. Run your fingers down the yarn to remove any excess glue. Place the string in the cookie cutter. I like to use the strating yarn to ouline the cookie cutter and then use the others to fill in. Repeat until you have achieved the look you want. Remove cookie cuttr. Allow to dry for several days or bake in 100 degree oven for an hour or two.
That's what we did today in addition to going outside and eating all the candy. Happy Valentine's Day everyone !!
Well, now I've done it. I officially have a blog. I am a trendy. And like all trendy families, we went bowling today. That's right I took a 6 year old and a 3 year old bowling. After setting up this blog, I plan to make myself a medal in Photoshop and print it out, because I deserve it. Somehow, we made it through 10 frames. My oldest son's score (thanks to the marvel of bumper bowling) was 103, my younger son's score (thanks to bumber bowling AND those ingenious bowling ramps) was 85, my husband's score was 99, and mine was 98. Well, at least I beat the 3 year old, right? After the last frame, as were packing into the minivan, my older son asks, "Dad, did I beat you?" My husband replied, "Yes, you did son." My son said, "Did I beat the good guys in the next lane?" Ah, humility is often delivered by the 6 year old :-)
And there you have it. Your first official glimpse into my world :-)
